747 SOC restoration part 2

When I received the model from my partner in crime. The wings had been neatly glued back on and the missing vertical stabilizer was replaced with a balsa wood version.

Repaired wings left an unsightly gap.

Balsa replacement for missing stab.
Obviously the wings break line would need to be sanded and the gaps filled with putty filler. My work was cut out for me.

  1. Wouldnt balsa wood give you a rough surface to paint later on?

  2. Correct. You would have to prepare the surface with filler. I ended up not using the wood after all. I talk about it in my next update.
