747 SOC Restoration Part 8

With the wing done I decided to detail up the tail.

I noticed the de-icing boots on the tail were pretty prominent in the reference pics and it was an easy thing to mask and paint.




The real boots are black in appearance. Black paint on models can often appear a bit too dark, so I actually used Tamiya XF-69 Nato Black which is more of a very dark grey than pure black.

 A quick hit with the airbrush and I was done. Nice thing about airbrushing is that masking can be localized.

Masking removed and I had a good scale effect!
